25 minutes for thousands of people to walk by the spot where I was standing. Impressive turn out. Almost completely silent. Surprisingly large number of hot guys marching. Kevin and Ted, owners of OutLoud, the gay bookstore, handed out free water and had restrooms available for marchers. Many accepted the water. Probably few knew it was from gay folk. I actually heard one woman ask if OutLoud was a Christian bookstore.
Everyone was well behaved. One lesbian who had circulated an email earlier in the week comparing the marchers to the Taliban, called the leader of the event a sicko and called for banners and signs was there, but merely participated in handing out water.
I wonder how many of those guys will be at Play/Tribe/Lucky’s or one of the other gay bars in Nashville tonight. I wasn’t going to go out tonight, but just might have to so I can check it out.
Photos to follow. Thanks to Ted for letting me blog from his laptop.
